Emily Piccone

Science Teacher

Emily is a new member of the MSLC community and is beginning her fourth year as a high school science teacher. While she has a passion for all of the core science subjects, she is most excited about the study of how the earth has changed over time, and she feels most at home on top of a mountain made of billion year old rock. In the classroom, Emily is interested in exploring questions that dive into critical thinking skills, and as herself a kinesthetic learner, she enjoys bringing lessons to life in a variety of hands-on, active ways.

Emily is a New York native and decided to move to Portland after spending three months hiking and exploring the National Forests and Parks that make up the Pacific Crest Trail in California and Oregon. When she is not in the classroom, Emily can be found on her bicycle, exploring natural areas on foot, or trying new recipes in her kitchen.

Emily holds a Master’s degree in Secondary Science Education from CUNY Brooklyn College and a Bachelor of Science degree from the University of Vermont.
