Social Studies Teacher
Catalina joins the Mt. Scott team this year and brings a passion for social justice and incorporating movement and technology into the classroom.
She most recently worked at Franklin High School’s Step Up Program assisting students and families in SE Portland. She previously spent 10 years teaching Social Studies and Language Arts internationally (in Mexico) and in Washington state at various alternative high schools.
Catalina grew up in a dual language household and is bicultural. She is very proud of both her American and Colombian identities and familia. In her free time she loves to spend time with her familia/friends, dance UJAM and Zumba, work out, create art and bake delicious treats.
One of her favorite parts of her day is going home to be greeted by her 13-year-old dog, Alba, and her partner, Claudelle, who both make her laugh daily.
